When you’re dealing with such a refined and elegant product for one of the most famous automobile marques in the world, you need to bring your A-game and make sure the display sign solution you deliver is up to the mark (no pun intended).
We’re really pleased with our solution. They convey a sense of solidity and permanence, while at the same time project a feeling of lightness and preciousness, qualities that reflect the nature of the car itself. It’s no easy feet achieving an elegant yet powerful signage solution, and our creations were greatly received by both our event management client and Jaguar. As sign makers there’s no better feeling.
So how did we do it? Like a magicians trick, the answer literally unfolds thanks to what you can’t see, though unlike magicians, as sign makers we’re happy to share the secret. The display stand’s sides are semi-opaque panels, made from 5mm 050 opal acrylic sheets, each with a clear vinyl print, housed in an acrylic frame which has brushed silver vinyl attached. Each display unit measures approximately 450 x 450mm in width, and is around 1200mm tall. The frame is hinged, using a very tough plastic tape, and unfolds flat when the top – solid 5mm white acrylic – and bottom – 5mm white foamex – pieces are removed. These pieces have a hidden 10mm lip which fits snugly with the four walls of the display stand. This ability to flat pack makes them ideal for transporting from one event to another. The concertina design ensures the folded footprint of the stand is minimised.
Each display is illuminated with simple, battery powder, flat round disc LED lights, doing away with the need for unsightly – and impractical – power leads. This also helps keep the overall weight of the stands down to a manageable 6kg. The stands are sturdy enough to allow food and drinks to be placed on top when necessary and have proved a big hit with those who have been fortunate enough to attend Jaguar F-type events.
